My typical night out on the town and proceeding to Katz Deli. I start with a Pastrami Sandwich and once finished work my way to a Turkey Sandwich. One cold winter night I came here and ate my two sandwiches watched 2 homeless People outside the window looking cold and very hungry looking in on me licking their lips as I took each bite of my Pastrami sandwich. Then I started on my turkey sandwich (best turkey ever had) and they the homeless looked so cold and hungry. I had to do this. I had to say to myself boy am I blessed to be in the warmth and eating $57 worth of Katz sandwiches just indulging! Was a nice feeling that winter evening at Katz. I like to make memories here and the food is second to none!

My goodness, this place is amazing - their sandwiches are so delicious, especially the pastrami!! I still think about it (and that is saying something coming from someone who is super picky about sandwiches). I found this spot when we visited New York, and I knew I had to take my husband because he absolutely loves sandwiches. And boy, did it deliver. The sandwiches were packed with flavor, and delicious pastrami, just hit all the right notes. We loved them! While you are waiting for the pastrami cut, they do give you a piece to try, it's awesome. I also loved the pickles on the side (who doesn't love pickles?!) There's something about the vibe here - classic, full of character and energy - that makes the experience awesome. It's definitely the kind of place you don't forget and want to keep coming back to. Will definitely be back when we are in the city again

After hearing about the massive sandwiches, I knew I had to add Katz's to my list! The deli counter is an experience in itself where the butcher cuts up samples of pastrami for you to taste. The lines were pretty long even with so many counters open but didn't go over an hour. The meat is SOOO soft and tender - by itself it's a 10/10! Once put onto a sandwich, I feel like it was plain, or like something was missing. I recommend the Rueben as it comes with cheese and a relish-like thousand island sauce while the regular pastrami only comes with mustard. The ambiance and setting is reminiscent of an old school diner which I love! Definitely a must try for a NYC first timer :)

This has been on my bucket list since ... forever. Finally tried it and wow. It was beyond what I expected and more. The moment you walk it, this deli runs like a well oiled machine. Every staff member knows exactly what they need to do without being asked. You're given red tickets the moment you walk in. While in line, it looks very intimidating but it goes fairly consistent. You pick a Cutter line to stand in 1-8. The menu is straight forward. I knew I had to try their signature pastrami. Hubs loves brisket so he ordered that to share with me. While watching the sandwiches being prepared, the cutter carves a few pieces of meat to taste. Oh. M. Gee. It just melted in my mouth. I don't think I've ever had pastrami or brisket that tender before that I couldn't wait to sink my teeth into the sandwich. Afterwards you take your tray and ticket to the drink and sides station to the left before finding a table. Delicious doesn't fully describe what I tasted. The mustard. The side of cucumber and pickles all paired well. I wished I ordered another pastrami but didn't want to overstuff myself. The busser clears the plates and wipes your table as you finish. You return all your tickets to the cashier to pay. Cash in front and credit card in the back.

My boyfriend and I were in the area around 11:40ish and there was no line outside. We went in and got on Cutter #1 line. We were the 5th customer on this line, but it took an hour for us to order. It was my first time getting the reuben sandwich and sour pickles. It cost almost $30. But I am not gunna lie. I tried a sample while waiting and it was delicious. I really enjoyed the sandwich, but I couldn't eat more than half of it in one sitting. It was very filling. The cutters are great. You can give them cash tip as they prepare your sandwiches. I would come back if I were able to get on the line inside the restaurant again. But I wouldn't wait more than an hour for this.

Kat'z Delicatessen is famous for their legendary pastrami sandwich. If you've been reading my reviews for a while, then you know my boyfriend appreciates a good pastrami sandwich. During our trip to New York, I knew we had to check it out. Upon entering, each person gets a tab, that your order gets charged to, and you pay with the cashier for everything at the exit. There are plenty of seats inside with the walls covered in celebrities and politicians who have loved Katz. Bipartisan approved. A bit confusing where to order, but I guess if you want the sandwich, you can order at any counter. The menu is a bit all over the place in the store so it was hard to focus. I'm also sad I didn't see the half sandwich and soup option because at the section I was standing, they didn't have that listed. That was exactly what I would have preferred. Sigh. I initially planned on getting the Matzo Ball soup, but when we got to the window, the nice gentleman helping us handed us 2 slices of pastrami to try. Danggggg sooooo good. I'm not even obsessed with pastrami but that bite convinced me. I was on the pastrami bus. We both got their legendary Kat'z Pastrami Sandwich ($28.95/each) and shared a Cel-ray Dr. Brown's Soda ($3.95). They gave us each pickles to go with our sandwiches. Staff was really nice, while being quick and efficient to meet their demand. The sandwich was stuffed with a generous amount of pastrami. The meat was high quality and tender. Just a tad fatty. Half would have been enough for me. It was a huge sandwich, but we were travelling so I had to eat as much as I can. Ohhh and for my friends asking about the Cel-Ray drink. It actually tastes like celery and most closely resembles a ginger ale. I really liked it. I'm sold on Katz and would be willing to come back if we find ourselves back in New York. Just a tad pricey but it's probably due to the high quality ingredients they utilize.

This has been on my radar for about a decade. I finally made it. I tried to lower my expectations but that was hard to do. The place is slammed all the time but we came at a good time waited about ten minutes to get in the door then about another 15 to get a table. Yes we did waiter service only because we really needed to sit for while. The place was slammed. We ordered the pastrami sandwich and steak fries and a slice of cheesecake. For the ok parts, cheesecake was ok not amazing but ok. Steak fries were ok not amazing but ok Pastrami sandwich was everything I expected it to be. Rye bread was good and held together well. The pastrami, lots of it and tender and juicy and tasty. Everything I wanted in a pastrami sandwich I added the spicy mustard which made it even better. The server seems nonchalant but is efficient and gets the job done. I can't imagine the sheer volume of customers this guy has seen ever the decades. It is worth wait. I would eat here regularly if I lived here.

Food: A few months ago, I visited this place with my husband after seeing it recommended in many videos. I ordered the pastrami sandwich, and it was delicious, the bread and the sauce were amazing. This place is a must-visit! We went twice because we loved it so much. Service: It's a popular spot, so sometimes you have to wait in line to get in. Once you're inside, you have to wait in another line to order food, and at the same time, you need to find a table to sit at. It gets really crowded, so I recommend going during non-peak hours. Ambience: It's a family-friendly, old-school restaurant that keeps its traditional vibe. They have photos of famous people who have visited on the walls, really nice!

Amazing and worth the wait. Upon arrival the line stretched pretty far back but we had time to spare so waited. About a good half hour or so later we finally made it inside and was able to see the menu. I went for the Pastrana and hubby got the Reuben. Both came with two different type of Pickles and was so delicious. Although I would of loved to dine inside we took our order to go. I aportes the table Harry & Sally dined and will go back another time. The sandwiches are huge and well worth the price. We'll be back but earlier this time. Highly recommend and they do give you samples while your sándwiches are being made. Staff is very friendly and although it's extremely busy they are very organized and keep the lines moving. Overall ambiance is pretty cool for it being such a busy place. Definitely recommend getting there earlier if you want to dine there.

Katz is always a day one to stop for us when we're in the city. We arrived on a Tuesday afternoon around 2:30 and there was a line outside the door to get in. Luckily the line moved pretty quickly and we were only outside for roughly 10 to 15 minutes. Our go to is the warm pastrami sandwich on rye and this go round we added a side of fries. Fries are really delicious and the pastrami just melts in your mouth. It's like butter! we did discover that they do have table service where you go all the way to the back of the restaurant. There is a small section where a server will bring your sandwich to you as well as anything else that you need. It's a nice option if you want to beat the mad rush of the multiple lines to get a sandwich and then try to hunt for a table or a chair to sit at to eat your food inside the restaurant. It is a small area so it does fill up very quickly
